I love my Jellicle Cat and today he is now officially old…by the time this posts this will be yesterday.
Today I discovered that I am probably not vanilla. I like kidnapping and being tied up and all manner of things. But I suck at comparing myself to others, everyone else sound so ‘moreso‘ than myself in all regards that I call myself vanilla, untravelled, naive, even vaguely innocent at times… FJ precipitated a moment of self-realisation in Peru which has largely led to me realising that I do have a certain amount of life experience.
I just can’t seem to match that up to my own view of myself.
But I’m not vanilla.
Theory:
Perhaps you have this idea that everyone else is ‘moreso’ than you because you only talk to people who are ‘moreso’ and don’t actually have any conversations with people who are ‘more vanilla’ than you?

And, yes, I think Erfie has a good theory there.
My point is rather that this isn’t only about Kink and Vanilla. It’s about Travelling, general naivete and innocence.
Also, I don’t think that your theory holds water (unless Lancaster is massively more kinky than the rest of the world) since it was joining an online fetish community that prompted this post.
I’m confused, how does the fact that you’ve joined an online community about fetishes make my theory invalid?

I like to think that my range of friends in and around Lancaster and beyond, with whom I talk of things kinky are broad-ranging from kinky to vanilla and back again. If this is the case then I do have conversations with people who are less kinky and more vanilla than I am.
In joining an online fetish community I’ve ‘met’ (in broad internet terms) a group of people who self-define as kinky and discovered them to be as broad-ranging as I believe my friends who do not self-define as kinky are in terms of vanilla and kink.
