Sherlock Holmes and Hello Kitty’s 50th

I ended up in London doing something I’ve promised myself I was going to do literally all year, see it’s Hello Kitty’s fiftieth birthday and I’ve been intending on going to Build-A-Bear and build a Hello Kitty stuffed toy. Took me all year but I did it and I’m rather proud of her, she has more clothes than I’ve ever bought for a Build-A-Bear and a suitcase with her paws-port in ready for the trip to Lapland.

After I built her I found my way to the Sherlock Holmes museum and Facebook gave me an offer of money off which I rather enjoyed taking. I had a lovely time walking round a tiny house attached to a gift shop in which the conceit that Sherlock Holmes was a real figure lasted until the 3rd Floor which had exhibits about the movies and plays and such. The whole place was done out in period appropriate pieces, really lovingly done.

I was surprised they were missing Elementary though not surprised they were missing House. They didn’t have any Enola Holmes either but I was less surprised about that.

I did get to learn about Japan’s love affair with the epitome of private detectives and that the first woman has played Holmes over in Tokyo. Then it was time to meet up with the Pirate, the plan was to find some mulled wine like last year but The Hyde Park Christmas market was much more stuffy about letting people with shopping in than Manchester’s. So the Pirate found this pub selling mulled wine and it was BRILLIANT. He found a haunted pub, The Grenadier, it had money stapled to the ceiling to pay off a ghosts gambling debts, utterly awesome.

I’m very tired now and hoping that cramming everything in to the two days before I go away doesn’t completely screw me.
