I was completely convinced this morning that we were going to be late and was more unreasonably stressed at The Jellicle Cat who was unbelievably patient.l considering I made her get up at half two in the morning and she’s not a morning girl at the best of times.
We weren’t late and I got to the queue at the same point as The Princess, Britney, Bonsai Kaiju, Smol Dragon and Tiny Yokai. I am not a package holiday sort of girl but I gotta admit when you have three kids between three and eight it takes a lot of the stress out of everything. Honestly I’m really impressed with Tui, the reps dressed as elves by the queue at 4:30 am were full of festive cheer and totally focused on keeping the kids occupied and chirpy as everyone checked their bags and what have you.
The Princess had us all wear matching ‘Lapland Crew’ sweaters (the fronts were personalised – mine is the one with the pansexual flag Christmas lights!)
The flight was great, I made a tactical error of buying two cans of Fanta for my nephews when fizzy drinks are for special occasions and they couldn’t finish one each… all the staff were bought into being elves flying us to see Santa, activity packs for the kids, colouring competitions, everything was just great and structured to keeping kids busy until we landed and then awesome flow and organisation of getting us onto buses to where we were staying.
The cabin was lovely and had its own sauna which I and The Princess were incredibly happy about! But no time to sauna today – we did chill in the cabin once we got here, well me and the Yokai did, the others went out to sledge down a closed ski slope. Then we got picked up for our Northern Lights tour… seventeen hours after I woke up with The Jellicle… but eighteen hours into my day we stopped on this snowy frozen road and saw faint lights dancing across the sky. It was all kinds of perfect.
