Pizza for Tea

Had dinner out for my birthday, pizza because BBF could get a gluten free option easily. Before that though I played two games, both very gamey which leaves me a little worried for tomorrow.

So this morning The Pirate and I were in the same game which was really nice. He hasn’t played Space 1889 before but obviously I retain my Martian obsession from that which is why I signed up for Canals of Mars. I was a Martian candidate for President and he was a Victorian Industrialist killing my people through overwork in the factories. We didn’t play much together at all. I met a lovely steampunk lad who lived close enough to bring sparkly costume and had great fun with him. It was a very gamey game as I said, they wrote it for taster LARP at conventions. Short character sheets, everything prewritten and goals clearly defined. I did not win election but I did get two votes!

Then we had lunch and I had to hide for a bit after someone needed to trauma dump about caring for her elderly father. I would like very much to get out of social care, or at least not feel I have to listen to people who are struggling like that. I think I mostly bored people after that, I wasn’t very verbal at all.

Then another gamey game run by FaeCrush who I’ve never met before but was predictably utterly competent, though my side of theatrical/pretentious. We were divided into factions surrounding a dying Emporer. There were rounds and communiques from our allies across the Space Empire. I got to have a nice shouty argument with a lovely roleplayer I’ve never met before, so for all I said they were both gamey games today I did get some play. FaeCrush timed it really nicely, it was very political and there was a fun mechanic near the end for assassinations. Due to an assassination circle at the end I was the only one left of my faction but luckily I’d bought passage off planet previously in the game so I survived when the planet were swarmed by a rival factions forces at the very end.

It is gamey in that it’s a puzzle and kinda an escape room but it’s also reliant on people roleplaying chatting with each other in a small space. The game I’m running I mean, so I’m a bit nervous.

Dinner was good in the end, and there was a nice bit after the game slot before the others had finished when I got to chat LARP theory with Radio Phil which was pretty good.

Swedish Meta is nice if scary intelligent and mostly I was tired at people and they didn’t seem to mind. Even BBF who I worried I was stealing away from socialisation.
