I got there eventually, the feeling of betrayal by Gaiman. I thought I had remembered the one story of his that got to me because I always think it’s by Warren Ellis or part of Preacher and it’s not it’s part of Sandman – that’s the people in the diner in 24 hours. The ones that Dream is far too late to save.
But that’s just standard horror, I like a lot of stories like that.
No the sudden waking up in the middle of the night in anger is because of the dream of a thousand cats. Somehow in my Unknown Amies addled mind I feel like Gaiman betrayed all tumblerinos everywhere by what? No longer allow cats to become all powerful if a thousand of them dream the same way I guess.
There is a section of my brain that really liked him, it’s just small and frequently forgot he existed.
Bastard bastard bastard.
